Hello everyone!
Welcome to the Spring 2021 edition of the Pineapple Newsletter.
As we approached the new year, I looked back at a 2020 filled with challenges to our industry and to our institution. Throughout, even as we all were forced to change, adapt, and accept less-than-ideal circumstances, TISOH has kept its mission front and center; our commitment to our industry and students to provide practical, career-focused education and training has guided a series of developments that allowed us to continue, and indeed, to expand our reach.
We launched our first ever series of webinars, the TISOH Speaker Series designed specifically for students, alumni, and the hospitality community. Whether new to the industry or a seasoned veteran, our webinars provided practical, useful information in areas of career readiness, hospitality training, and diversity and inclusion. The success of these engagements revealed a need in the industry that we will continue to meet with additional relevant, innovative offerings. I encourage all of you to attend the Speaker Series events this semester.
TISOH has also created a number of technologically mediated ways to connect with students. Two exclusive online hubs, TISOHnow for our current students, and TISOHnext for our alumni community are available today, and offer a range of services and tools. For students that are seeking career placement assistance, interviewing skills, one-on-one mentoring, both TISOHnow and TISOHnext serves as virtual centers to support your career ambitions.
Partly in recognition of these accomplishments, TISOH received a five-year grant of reaccreditation from the Accrediting Commission of the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). Accreditation is a rigorous process that examines every aspect of our daily school operations; a five-year accreditation is the highest awarded and reflects our continued insistence upon maintaining the highest of educational standards. I applaud the TISOH community, including you, for your support in developing dreams, passions, and careers in our industry and community.
